One memory I hope to keep forever is the first time I ever met my best friend in elementary school as it has changed the way I look at the world today. Prior to meeting them, I was the most antisocial kid and would always eat lunch alone in the corner, but my teacher noticed that there was another kid in her class who recently transferred schools, and was just like me who had not many friends. She asked me one morning if I would hang out with them, and as an obedient student I followed through with my teacher's instructions. This was one of the biggest risks I took growing up in asking someone who was a stranger to me at the time to be my friend. I still remember what I did that day as I asked them to play with a certain game with me on the blacktop. Almost eight years later and this person has been my best friend and someone I can always look to for advice and to confide in like nobody else. Meeting them has also changed who I am today by allowing me to create new friendships and develop better social skills with others by supporting me everyday and having someone who is always on my side. To this day I keep this memory close to me and will cherish for life.
